Installation

First of all, you will need a working WordPress installation. To install WordPress CMS, please see the WordPress Codex.If you are new to WordPress these links can help later on the road:


Theme Installation via WordPresss

This installation is easiest and recommended way to install Ernova theme. Follow these steps below:

  • Step 1 - Log in to your WordPress Installation
  • Step 2 - Navigate to Appearance > Themes
  • Step 3 - Click on Add New or Add New Theme

  • Step 5 - Click on Choose File, select "ernova.zip" and click Install Now

  • Step 6 - When upload is finished, click on Ernova theme to Activate

Theme Installation via FTP

If you want to upload Ernova theme through FTP client then Follow these steps below:

  • Step 1 - Log in to your hosting server via FTP client (like FileZilla)
  • Step 2 - Navigate to the folder /wp-content/themes
  • Step 3 - Upload "ernova.zip" extracted content
  • Step 4 - Log in to your WordPress Installation
  • Step 5 - Navigate to Appearance > Themes
  • Step 6 - Find Ernova theme and activate it

Plugin Installation

After theme activation you will see plugin installation notice.

Ernova Theme have Premium Plugins specifically built for this Theme. They provide provide major functionality to our themes, therefore it is important to install and activate them.

  • Step 1 - Click on Begin installing plugin or navigate to Appearance > Install Plugins

Child Theme

Ernova theme includes a Child Theme which is meant for custom modification.

If you need it, you can install "ernova-child.zip" in the same way as a regular WordPress theme.

What is a Child Theme?

A child theme is a theme that inherits the functionality and styling of another theme, called the parent theme. Child themes are the recommended way of modifying an existing theme.


Why use a Child Theme?

If you modify a theme directly and it is updated, then your modifications may be lost. By using a child theme you will ensure that your modifications are preserved.

Site Navigation

Site navigation is very important part of every website. Ernova Theme supports 3 level deep navigation. Follow these steps below to set up your navigation.

  • Step 1 - Go to Appearance > Menus
  • Step 2 - Type your "Menu Name" and click Create Menu

  • Step 5 - Change your menu order by dragging and dropping your content in the right place
  • Step 6 - When menu items are ready, click Save Menu

Mega Menu

Adding mega menu to your WordPress header is very easy. Just follow these simple steps below:

  • Step 1 - Log in to your WordPress Installation
  • Step 2 - Navigate to Appearance > Menu
  • Step 3 - Click on Screen Options
  • Step 4 - Tick CSS Classes under Screen Options > Show advanced menu properties

  • Step 5 - Click on any Top-level Menu Item downward arrow that you want to turn into a Mega Menu.

Translation

Ernova Theme & Plugins are translation ready.

  • Step 1 - Download and install Poedit (http://poedit.net/)
  • Step 2 - Open the .pot file in /languages directory using Poedit.
  • Step 3 - Generate the .po and .mo translated file using Poedit
  • Step 4 - Save it
  • Step 5 - Copy the translated .po and .mo files and place it in placed wp-content/languages/themes
  • Step 6 - Go to Settings > General and change your WordPress language

A Humble Note: The Translated files .po and .mo should be placed wp-content/languages/themes. This way translations are kept when you update the theme.

Theme Update

Theme Update Method 1 (Manually)

Updating the theme is very important, because with every new version there are new features or bug fixes, which improves theme using experience.

Follow these steps below to update this theme.

  • Step 1 - Log in to your WordPress Installation
  • Step 2 - Navigate to Appearance > Themes
  • Step 3 - Deactivate Ernova theme by activating any other theme
  • Step 4 - Hover Ernova theme with mouse and click Theme Details
  • Step 5 - Click on Delete button. Don't worry, your content will not be lost, because the theme doesn't store any data.
  • Step 6 - Click on Add New or Add New Theme

Customizer

Site Identity

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.

Site Title & Tagline could be changed here. Also Site logo and Site icon could also be uploaded here.

A Humble Note: Uploading Site Logo will remove Site Title from display in the header


Colors

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Colors.

Ernova theme lets you change each and every color of the theme here. Using different color alogirthms Ernova Theme determines the different shades of your choosen color and color text depending on the color of the container so you don't get confused over changing alot of different color customization options. Five Color different colors combination is avaiable to u in this customization option given below:

  • Background Color: This color determines the color of the background of the theme. using this color Ernova determines a lighter shade of it and the lighter shade of this color is given to the cards which holds your awesome Posts and Widgets so it attracts focus in visual hierarchy of the theme. also using this Background color Ernova also determines wheather the text should be displayed as white color or black in the cards depending on the cards background color.
  • Primary Color: This is the main color of the theme. This color is given to all the Post Title, buttons and links in the theme. Background color of Tags and text color of Categories links in the main content area are also determined by this color. Using this color a darker shade is determined by Ernova theme which it uses as a hover animation over the links and buttons that have Primary Color as the background.
  • Header Background Color: This is the background color of the header that holds the menu or navigation links, the logo and the search button. A Humble Note: This color is also the background color of the dropdown menus
  • Header Image Text Color: This color is only avaiable or visible when under Appearance > Customize > Header Image an image is uploaded for the Current Header. This color determines the text color over the Header Image.
  • Footer Background Color: This color is the background color of the footer of the theme. Using this color a darker shade of the color is determined by the Ernova Theme and given to the Copyright Section below the footer and the text color for the footer wheather it should be black or white is also determined through this Color option

Typography

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Typography.

Ernova theme supports 1000+ Google fonts. You change the font family of the whole theme to any Google Font here.


Header Image

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Header Image.

Header Image appears under the header on the Home Page. Ernova Theme Supports Text and a Button link on the Header Image.

  • Current header: The Add new image button under this option adds a Header image to the Home Page of the Theme
  • Header Image Behind the Header: This checkbox will push the Header Image behind the Header Menu. Useful when User want to display the Transparent Header Menu on top of Header Image. To display Header Image on top of Header Menu this option should be ticked and Transparent Header Background on HomePage under Appearance > Customize > Header Options should be ticked
  • Header Image Text: The Text that will appear on the Header Image. You can change the color of this text by going to Appearance > Customize > Colors and change the color option under Header Image Text Color. Header Image Text Color Will only be visible if an image is uploaded or present under Current header
  • Header Image Parallax Effect: This checkbox adds the Parallax effect on the Header Image
  • Header Image Button Text: The text of The Header Image Button. Leave it empty if you don't want a Button on your Header Image.
  • Header Image Button URL: The URL to which the Header Image Button will be directed to.

A Humble Note: If you are Using Ernova Slider Plugin then this Customization Option should not be used and no image should be uploaded under add new image. Kindly either use Header Image Or Ernova Slider on your Home Page in Ernova Theme, not both as it will result in a broken Layout.


Background Image

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Background Image.

Uploads an Image to the Background of the Theme


Menus

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Menus.

Allows you to customize the Menu in the Header Navigation


Widgets

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Widgets.

Allows you to add widgets to Primary Sidebar and Footer Columns


Homepage Settings

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Homepage Settings.

Allows you to define the Homepage and Post Page of the Website


Header Options

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Header Options.

Allows you to Customize the Header

  • Header Fixed To Top: This option will stick the Header to the top of the webpage always even when a user scroll down. In smaller devices this option has no effect due to smaller screen sizes
  • Transparent Header Background on HomePage: This option will make the header Transparent. Useful to display Menu on top of Ernova Slider or Header Image.To display menu on top of Ernova Slider, Tick this option and Tick Slider Behind The Header option under Slider Options if Ernova Slider Plugin is active. And to display menu on top of Header Image,Tick this option and Tick Header Image Behind the Header option under Appearance > Customize > Header Image if Header Image is uploaded under the same section.
  • Retain Header Background Color on Hover: This option will give the Header Background Color under Appearance > Customize > Colors on hover when Transparent Header Background on HomePage is ticked
  • Transparent Dropdown Background: This make the dropdown in the header transparent.
  • Transparent Header Buttons: This option will make the buttons in the header have transparent background.

Single Blog Options

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Single Blog Options.

Allows you to Customize Single Blog Post.

  • Show Author Info: Show or Hide the Author Box below the Blog Post Content
  • Show Related Blogs: Show or Hide The Related Blog Posts under the heading You might also like
  • Related Blogs Heading: The text that gets displayed above the Related Blogs.
  • Show Featured Image Related Blogs Only: If you tick this box then only those Related Blog Posts will be displayed that has a Featured Image

A Humble Note:This Option is only visible when u r in a Single Blog Post Page in the Customizez


Footer Options

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Footer Options.

Allows you to Customize the Footer

  • Footer Layout: This option allows u to define how many widgets the footer will have and what will be the indiviual width of each widget. The total Number of Columns are 12. Divide 12 into different sizes to determine the number and the width of widgets. 3,3,3,3 means that 4 widgets in footer each occupying 3 columns and the same goes for 4,4,4 meaning 3 widgets in footer each occupying 4 columns and so on . Remember the total number of columns in a row is 12 and each column should be separated by a comma ( , )
  • Hide Copyright Section: This Checkbox hide and display the Copyright section below the main footer content
  • Copyright Text: This is the text that will appear in the Copyright Section below the footer.If you want to write HTML in it only a tag (<a></a>) with href attribute is allowed.

A Humble Note: The Footer Layout Widgets will get created under Appearance > Widgets


Additional CSS

Settings found under Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.

Allows you to Add custom CSS to Ernova Theme.


Post Formats

Ernova Theme Supports almost all post formats so your WordPress website looks diverse and visually attracting. Following are each Post Format that Ernova theme supports

Post Formats: Standard

Standard Post Format comes in two variation in ernova theme, one with featured image and one without featured image.


Post Formats: Gallery

Gallery Post Format displays the first gallery it finds in your post content and display it as a slider for your post.


Post Format: Video

Video Post Format displays the first video it finds in your post content and display it as a video for your post.


Post Format: Image

Image Post Format displays the first image it finds in your post content and display it as a image for your post. This post format also display Image Caption. There is no read more link for this post format.


Post Format: Audio

Audio Post Format displays the first audio it finds in your post content and display it as an audio for your post.


Post Format: Quote (Only Classic Editor)

Quote Post Format displays the first quote it finds in your post content and display it as a text with upper and lower border of ur theme primary color for your post. This post format only works when u make quotes in classic editor.


Post Format: Status

This post format displays a short status of your content with only showing the post excerpt of the post. This post format has no read more link as it is a short status.


Post Format: Aside

This post format displays a long version of Status Post format. There is a read more link in this post format for your post.


Post Format: Link (Only Classic Editor)

This Post format displays the first link it finds in your pst content. This post format only works when links are made in Classic editor.


Ernova Slider Plugin

Adds Custom or Post sliders to Ernova Theme Home Page with lots of Variation. If your theme is not Ernova or u want to display the slider somewhere else too in Ernova Theme then paste the <?php ernova_slider_call(); ?> in your Theme HTML where u want the slider to appear. For Ernova Theme its already integrated in Home Page so u don't have to worry about it.

Slider Options

  • Slider Layout(Only Available in Ernova Theme): This option has Slider Behind The Header which allows u to push the Slider behind Header Menu. Useful to display Header Menu on top of Ernova Slider. To display Header Menu on top of Ernova Slider, this option needs to be Slider Behind The Header need to be ticked and Transparent Header Background on HomePage under Appearance > Customize > Header Options should be ticked.
  • Slider Animation: This option allows user to choose slider animation when slides changes. Two options are available Slide Animation and Fade Animation
  • Slider Type: This option allows user to choose the Slider Type. two Options are available: Custom Slider & Post Slider
  • Custom Slider: Allows user to choose the Images for the Slides and Title and Caption of the slide. Choosing this option in Slider Type makes the Slider Images option appear
  • Slider Images: Allows user to upload Slider Images, Title & Caption if Custom Slider option is ticked under Slider type.Remember The Title and Caption of the image gets displayed on the Slider
  • Post Slider: This option makes the Slides from your WordPress Posts. The Image that gets displayed in the Slide is the Featured Image and the Title of the Slide is Post Title and Descripton that gets displayed is the Post Excerpt. Choosing this option under Slider Type makes the Number of Slides and Select Posts In Order Of options appears. Remember, Only Those Posts gets displayed in Post Slider that have Featured Image
  • Number of Slides: If Post Slider is selected under Slider Type this option allows u to choose the number of Posts to display in the Slider
  • Select Posts In Order Of: If Post Slider is selected under Slider Type this option allows u to choose what type of posts u want to display. It has three options: choose The Most Recent Posts, choose Random Posts each time page gets refreshed and choose the most popular posts meaning the posts which have most Number of Comments.

A Humble Note: In Ernova Theme, If Header Image under Appearance > Customize > Header Image > Current Header is already uploaded and present than this Ernova Slider plugin should not be used. Kindly either use Header Image Or Ernova Slider on your Home Page in Ernova Theme, not both as it will result in a broken Layout.


Ernova Social

Adds Social Media Icons and Social Shares so people can follow you on different social media platforms and share your content. This plugin also adds a widget called Ernova Social Media Widget to display Social Icons. If your theme is not Ernova then you can use this PHP function <?php ernova_social_call(); ?> to display Social Media Icons or you can add it as a shortcode in your Post Content using the shortcode [ernova_social /]. If your theme is not Ernova and want to display Social Shares Icons then add this action hook <?php do_action('_themename_social_plugins_share', get_the_permalink(), get_the_title()); ?> after the post content in your theme single page template. For Ernova Theme all of this is already integrated so u don't have to worry about it.

Social Media Options

  • Social Media Layout: Defines the layout of Social Icons for follow. For Ernova Theme it has three options.
    • Default Row Based: For Ernova Theme choosing this option will make the icons gets displayed in a row based layout in the header of the Theme. For Other themes this option will display Social Media Icons in the place where u called <?php ernova_social_call(); ?> or pasted the shortcode [ernova_social /]
    • Sticky Social Media Bar: This option display the Social Media Icons in the right side of every page with an arrow toggle button to show and hide these icons
    • Use It As a Widget Only (Available only in Ernova Theme): This Option hides Social media Icons for both of the above mention places and display it only when u have added the Ernova Social Media Widget to a sidebar or a footer column
  • Facebook Profile URL: Add your Facebook profile link here
  • Twitter Profile URL: Add your Twitter profile link here
  • Instagram Profile URL: Add your Instagram profile link here
  • LinkedIn Profile URL: Add your LinkedIn profile link here
  • Youtube Channel URL: Add your Youtube Channel link here
  • RSS URL: Add your website RSS Feed URL here. example www.yourwebsite.com/feed

Ernova Contact Form Plugin

Adds contact form feature for your theme which lets u see the users who contacted u in wordpress dashboard and emails the contact message and info to the admin email of the wordpress website. Use this shortcode [ernova_contact_form] to activate the Contact Form inside a Page or a Post

Contact Messages

This plugin adds a menu page to the WordPress dashboard named Contact Messages where you can see the name,the message, the email of the person who contacted u on the contact form. It also displays the date and time when the person filled in the contact form in your website. In this way you can see all the contacts messages while not even leaving your wordpress dashboard.

Ernova Posts Widget

Adds a widget named Ernova Posts Widget that let you display the recent posts, most popular posts or randomly choosen Posts in the sidebar or in the footer column. Just drag the widget named Ernova Posts Widget onto the Primary Sidebar area or a footer column under Appearance > Widgets to add this widget. this widget has the following options

  • Title: The Title that should be given to this Widget. leave it empty to display the widget without the Title.
  • Sort By: In what order should the posts gets displayed. The options are Most Recent, Random(randomly choose Posts) & Number of Comments(most popular posts)
  • Number of Posts: How many posts should be displayed in the widget
  • Display Date: Wheather or not to display the date
  • Only include posts with featured image: Wheather or not select only those posts that have featured images.

Ernova Meta Boxes Plugin

A Required Plugin for Ernova Theme that adds Metaboxes for Post Type Post and Page that lets u choose the layout for Post and Page and Read Time (in Minutes) for a Post in Edit webpage and Add New webpage for Post and Page Post Types.
